English muffins – what are they called in England ? Muffins ?? 🤔

Nope ! American Muffins 🙂

Apparently a baker who moved to New York from Britain originally created these cuties, so they were invented in USA ! But he chose to call them English muffins !

English muffins are these soft yet crunchy rounds which taste great with butter. Toast them crisp and top with a thin smear of butter, watch the butter melt into the crevices and then take a big crunchy bite. These are often termed mini-pizzas and rightfully so, they can be presented using a variety of toppings. They are small and very appealing to small kids.

English muffins can be served sweet or savory. For this offering, they are presented savory in 2-ways. Classic Italian combination of tomato, mozzarella and basil. Here cherry tomatoes along with fresh mozzarella balls are used with basil herb for seasoning. The second combination goes Mediterranean with Olives, Feta cheese and parsley for seasoning. Sprinkle crushed red peppers for heat and a drizzle of olive oil for flavor.

These beauties can be put together very quickly and works well in a brunch buffet spread as well. Use Whole Wheat or Multigrain English muffins to make this a well balanced breakfast item. Enjoy them with a steaming cup of Coffee on a Saturday morning, a welcome start to the whole weekend !
