Air fryer spicy breaded French fries + bonus – almond crusted sweet potato home fries

VEGAN, GLUTEN-FREE, NUT-FREE

French fries are a universal treat that everyone enjoys. Actually potato has a lot of good nutrients and is truly good for you (in moderation!). Unfortunately potatoes get a lot of bad press due to the frying process …  (frying does take away the goodness….🤷🏻‍♀️).  Now comes the Air Fryer to the rescue. Enjoy crispy fries just the way it should be; with just a teaspoon of oil. How about making it crunchy with a light cornmeal coating and also spicy? This is a win-win situation 🙂 

Cut up the potatoes in long ‘fries’ sticks. Soak them in warm salted water. This step is absolutely necessary to remove the excess starch which also makes the potato crispy. Pat them completely dry on a kitchen towel. Sprinkle a teaspoon of oil, season with salt-n’-spicy curry powder and a coating of cornmeal. The cornmeal gives it a beautiful surprise crunch. It took a total of 18 minutes at 380 degrees on the Airfryer. Open in between and give it a light stir. 

The only boring part is cutting them. Make sure to employ a spouse or a teenager to do this task 😆 After that everything is a breeze! 

BONUS – Sweet potato home fries breaded with almond flour

VEGAN, GLUTEN-FREE, NUT-FREE

This is another easy peasy AirFryer snack which comes together in 15 minutes. Cut the sweet potatoes into cubes for home fries. Drizzle a teaspoon of oil, seasoning of choice and a handful of almond flour. Coat well and fry in air fryer at 375 degrees for 15 minutes, stir in between.

What you got is a protein-boosted, sweet potatoes fries with a nice crunch.

Ingredients

  • 4 Large dutch potato cut into 1/2 inch thin long sticks
  • 2 tsp Cooking oil
  • 2 tsp Red chilly powder
  • 2 tbsps Cornmeal

Instructions

  • Soak potato in warm salted water for 15 minutes
  • Remove potatoes and dry completely on a kitchen towel
  • Split the potatoes into 2 portions
  • One one portion sprinkle 1 tbsp cornmeal, 1 tsp red chilly powder, salt and 1 tsp oil; coat well
  • Air fry at 375 degrees for 18 total minutes, remember to stir once after 10 minutes
  • Repeat steps 4,5 for second portion
  • Enjoy with tomato ketchup
